Decoustics Quadrillo®, Solo™ and Solo M™ Ceiling Panels Achieve Certification from Forest Stewardship Council

(Valley Forge, Pa.) – Decoustics, the custom suspended ceilings line from CertainTeed Ceilings, recently announced that its Quadrillo®, Solo™  and Solo M™  ceilings products are now Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified (SW-COC-004048). This certification guarantees the wood used to manufacture the products is from a certified forest that utilizes environmentally responsible practices that protect soils, waterways and wildlife with respect to workers and neighboring communities.

“The attainment of this certification is part of CertainTeed’s commitment to being an industry leader in the development of environmentally responsible building products and the environmentally friendly operation of its manufacturing facilities,” says Eric Bishun, general manager of Decoustics. “We have instituted the strict manufacturing requirements set up by the FSC and will continue to do our part to preserve timber resources.”

Certification was achieved through an independent audit conducted by the Rainforest Alliance through the organization’s SmartWood program.

Quadrillo is a natural wood veneer finish that is ideal for both ceiling and wall applications. Combining Decoustics’ unique patented perforation technology with a high-performance acoustical core, Quadrillo ceiling panels offer superior acoustical performance.  FSC/COC-certified Quadrillo acoustical natural wood veneer panels were recently supplied to an 86,000 sq. ft. project at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia.

Solo is an acoustical wood plank finish consisting of a natural wood veneered medium density fiberboard (MDF) which is grooved on the face and perforated from behind and covered with an acoustically transparent black mat laminated to the backside. Solo M is a modified version of the standard Solo product, produced as a panel rather than planks and has the same construction, acoustic performance and fire rating as Solo.

FSC, an international, non-profit association, was founded in 1993 on the principles of elimination of habitat destruction, water pollution, displacement of indigenous people and violence against people and wildlife that can often accompany logging. For more information, visit www.fsc.org.
